 affordable means of transport

means of getting around places in asia

bus + train

Public Transport is usually the best means of transport to get around in any city…..such as Singapore and Korea. Public transport is fast, efficient and cheap! You can find out how to go to place A to place B just by using Google Maps and they will suggest bus/train routes fo you to take! For countries like Singapore, there are 5 train lines forming the whole Singapore MRT network and travelling from one end to another takes only 1.5 hours! Usually, the same card that is used for train transportation can be used for the bus transportation as well so it is really convenient! Just load up the card and you’re ready to go!

cycle

Many Asian countries have brought in the cycling culture which is popular in the western countries like the Netherlands. You can find many bicycles readily available in the Asian countries such as Singapore and Taiwan! Singapore has many bike sharing services available such as the ofo and mobike platform where you can find many of the bikes all over the island and you can just unlock the bike using QR codes and pay accordingly to the distance travelled! For countries like Taiwan where the bicycle culture is really strong, you will be able to find many bicycle rental shops that rent bicycles so there is really no excuse for you to not cycle! So if you do not know how to cycle, please do yourself (and your wallet) a favour and learn how to cycle before coming to Asia for exchange!

walk

As cliche as it sounds….Walk!

Walk as much as you can...it keeps your body pumped up, saves you money and at the same time, you can get to see and experience more when you walk the extra mile! You should choose to stay in an area that is more central, closely situated to several attractions or shopping streets so that these places are all accessible by walking!
